I’m David “The Utz”Utzinger; I am not an Attorney, CPA or MBA. I am a small business guy who has been in the trenches of small business for almost 50 years. I wrote this hand book so others could benefit from both my successes and mistakes.

During my 50 year career I have started small businesses, built a 250 space manufactured housing community. My partners and I fought for seven years to get the necessary permits. Shortly after breaking ground in 1979 interest rates skyrocketed to over 21%. I built a large multi level marketing organization, with hundreds of distributors across the country. 

As a licensed New Jersey Real Estate Broker I managed a branch office for a large real estate company marketing properties and businesses. I was a licensed Pennsylvania Auctioneer and won the 2002 National Auctioneers Associations,  Grand Champion award for Best of show, Advertising, Broadcast and Audiovisual, TV commercial. I’m The Founding President of The National Association of Public Auto Auctions. I remarketed used rental cars from two of the largest rental companies in the world to Cities, Counties and the Federal Government. {I have a special section in my book on selling to Government agencies}

It’s not that hard and yes you can make money!

I was the General Manager of the Premier Dealer/Public auto auction in the US. We auctioned thousands of vehicles and equipment from the Federal Government, major utility companies, banks, credit unions, donation companies, dealers and the general public. I’ve had the opportunity to see many profit and loss statements and balance sheets.

I’ve seen the successes and heard the horror stories as the owner was going under and the IRS moving in.
